Here is the contribution of the gambling industry to the Italian economy

The gambling industry has long become a decisive economic factor. Meanwhile, arcade gambling offers many people the desired distraction from everyday life. This is not a modern phenomenon, because roulette, blackjack and the like have been an important part of leisure activities for centuries.
Today, however, in addition to casinos and fixed game rooms, it is above all online gaming rooms that have gained an important place in the world of gambling.
Changes in the world of casinos
Gambling is part of the culture of many countries. Over the last 20 years, the number of online casinos has increased enormously. The sector has therefore transformed into a very important economic factor. However, this development does not only concern the Italian economy, but many countries have been positively affected by it.
The non-negligible tax revenue and job creation are considered significant factors for the economy. In ancient times, gambling was mainly reserved for the wealthy class of the population, but today the sector has developed into a truly mass market.
This change is especially noticeable in land-based casinos, which are located outside of large gambling centers such as Las Vegas or Monaco. At the same time, however, the development of online gaming rooms has also had a positive influence on fixed gaming rooms. Today, both sectors collaborate more and more and can therefore benefit from each other.
The climb is gigantic
For years now, a clear trend has been observed in many countries around the world. Among other things, this has led the responsible authorities to recognize the benefits of gambling liberalization. This is reason enough for many countries to increasingly relax the rules relating to the management of online gaming rooms.
In addition to Italy, many other countries around the world have also recognized that the liberalization of the gambling industry leads to an increase in tax revenues and jobs. At the same time, however, this allows you to control player protection and legal requirements for businesses to operate as desired.
The advancement of digitalization then led to the emergence of online gaming rooms, which in turn initiated a fundamental change. Although casinos and gaming halls have existed for centuries, the development of the Internet in particular has ensured the spread of digital gaming. The first online gaming room opened its doors as early as 1996.
Back then, the offerings were still very simple and mundane, but now they have turned into a billion-dollar industry. The drivers of this development are undoubtedly mobile devices and their constant development. They have meant that the type and scope of online gambling hall offerings have changed radically. Among other things, the Internet ensures that finding suitable suppliers is child’s play.
On the one hand, you can find expert reviews and customer ratings. These factors have helped give a huge boost to the gambling industry. This, in turn, has led to a gigantic increase in turnover, from which the economy obviously also benefits.
The end of the line is still a long way off
According to estimates by market research institutes, around 2.2 billion mobile gamers are currently active. It is thanks to them that the gambling industry can reach an annual turnover of 59 billion dollars. Around half of gamblers engage in mobile gaming for around 10 hours a week, according to their own figures. This has decisively fueled the increase over the last 20 years.
Current estimates for 2023 in terms of gambling industry revenues could be around $93 billion. However, experts had initially assumed that such revenues could only be expected in 2025. The development of mobile gambling is mainly responsible for this result. As for further development, the market researchers at Mordor Intelligence see no end in sight.
On the contrary, according to estimates, the market will continue to grow rapidly in the coming years. Experts consider an annual growth of around 11.5% until 2026 to be realistic. Recent years have shown how great the interest in online offers is and that the boom is far from over.
The emergence of companies
Another important factor is the rapid technological development in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Both ensure that the gambling industry is boosted more and more. However, it has also emerged that more and more female players are entering the market and taking advantage of the offers.
Currently, the most important markets are North America and Europe. Asia and Australia are proving to be promising markets, while Africa and South America are still lagging behind. These gigantic developments have also meant that online gambling houses have long since transformed into companies.
Although the global market is still fragmented, some major players have already emerged. They have emerged through numerous mergers and acquisitions. Currently, the market is dominated by these companies.
● The Flutter Entertainment PLC
● Kindred Group PLC
● Entain PLC
All companies today have a huge product portfolio. This market power means that the gambling industry is always growing. It is an important factor in being able to always offer users something new. But great competition also stimulates commercial activity, because it is precisely the fight for the customer that is the decisive factor in ensuring that companies become a significant economic factor.
On the one hand, they generate high sales and, on the other, they ensure the creation of many jobs. At the same time, however, a large number of supplier companies are kept in the economic cycle; this applies to software development, for example, and also to the tourism industry.
Meanwhile, providers cooperate with landline casinos, among other things in the poker sector, where entire tournament series take place. This attracts players from all over the world to casinos. Hotels and restaurants, as well as shops and the travel industry, are also benefiting from this development. For land-based casinos, these cooperations offer excellent opportunities to present their offers to a new, young audience.
